The magic of friendship

I must say that I’m very particular about choosing people to share problems with. I won’t share them with someone that I don’t trust and someone who doesn’t know who I am and understand me. Actually, there’re many categories of people in my life. First, there’re people that I can share all problems and I trust with all my heart. Second, there’re people that I only tell certain problems and stories and keep the rest as secret. Third, people that I know will be there for me and will never forget me. (I also trust them with all my heart).

Basically, my family, best friend and pen pals are in the first and third category. People might be wondering, why pen pals? Well, I’d say, even though we never meet, but trust and belief tie us together. In fact, I feel more comfortable to talk with my pen pals rather than most of my real friends.

It’s because I know my pen pals for a longer time than most of my real friends especially those in university. Besides, I know that they won’t judge me and they accept me as the way I am. There’s non-judgmental acceptance between us. We accept each other as the way we are and we don’t try to change the others. We share what we’ve and we listen to each other. I guess that’s why we could be friends even though we never meet and live thousand miles away from each other.

Actually, I’m very lucky because I’ve 2 best pen pals ever; ‘Vone and Jaewoo. ‘Vone and I have been friends since 2001. It has been more than 7 years now, but I still enjoy writing to her as if I just know her. There’ll always be new things to talk and share between us and also new gifts to give to each other. I constantly change friends within the last 7 years but ‘Vone is always there. She’s apart of my life. I’ve one large box where I keep all her letters and gifts. I love everything she sent me; chocolates, perfumes, lipsticks, accessories, bag, magazines a.s.o. They’re awesome!

Now, besides ‘Vone, there’s my other pen pal, Jaewoo. We’ve been writing to each other since 2005. Frankly, I never thought that I could write to a guy this long since it’s unusual for guys to love writing letter. But he’s different. I still remember the first e-mail that he sent me; he asked, can he write a real letter to me? I was surprised because I never thought that there’ll be a guy who loves writing letter. At that moment, I know he’ll be my other awesome pen pal; someone who’s like ‘Vone and we’ll definitely be friends for a long time. My expectation is true. Until now, we still write to each other. Just like with ‘Vone, I enjoy every moment of writing to him and also sharing ideas and stories with him.

Frankly, I’m very lucky because both of them pampered me. They always give me presents and they never forget me where ever they go. ’Vone is always send me postcards during her trips where it be USA or around France and she always send me gifts not only on my birthday and Christmas. All the gifts are amazing and I just like them all. The same goes for Jaewoo. He sends gifts to me in his letters even though not as frequent as ‘Vone. He also sent a card to me during his trip in Japan. (Unfortunately, I didn’t get the card. I was very disappointed.)

Of course, I can’t compare both of them. With ‘Vone, we usually talk about everything starting from girls’ talk up until politics but with Jaewoo, we’ve different topics. But both of them are the persons that I know will never forget me and will always remember my birthday. Both of them are very special to me in different ways. For sure, I enjoy being friends with them until I never realized how fast time flies. We don’t need to meet someone to be great friends. I guess that’s THE MAGIC OF FRIENDSHIP! ^_^
