I start learning Hangug mal since January this year. It’s fun but not easy. In the beginning of the class, my lecturer, Madam Tiara Bhang Jiyeon told the class that it’s not easy to learn new language at our age because human has the best age to learn language; it’s around 6 until 12 years old. But we’re already in the early of 20’s. So, in our situation, it depends on our motivation. I agree with her. I know 3 languages so far. First, my mother tongue, Malay or Bahasa Melayu followed by English and Arabic.
I started learning English when I was 6 years old and now I’m majoring in that language in university. As for Arabic, my father taught me when I was 4 years old and I continue learning it in high school for six years. So, I don’t have many problems in both of the languages but for Korean language, it’s not that easy. It has new writing system which is totally different from Roman and Arabic. At first, it’s quite difficult to remember all alphabets and their sounds. What make it worse is that some of them have 2 different sounds for the same alphabet. They’re totally confusing! I got more problems when it comes about word spellings.
One more thing, Korean sentence is totally different in term of arrangement. It doesn’t have subject, verb and predicate like in English. It’s arranged starting from time, place, somebody, object and lastly verb. It absolutely gives me headache. But as time moves on, I could adapt myself to the difference slowly. I really hope one day, I could master Hangug mal, not to be as perfect as Koreans because I’m not a Korean. I just hope, I could speak and write in the language very well. Actually,
